I’ve linked to explanations like this before, but it’s worth repeating: when Tim Darby had a crash, Matthew Dillon explained how to obtain a dump. This can be fantastically useful when debugging a crash.

T’would be nice if this was set up as part of a standard installation.
Not everyone who could potentially provide useful information to help fix a problem can be expected to know details like this.
If it is somehow problematic for someone running a _production system_, they should have the know-how to disable it.
Just for clarification, I certainly don’t advocate having anything and everything enabled in a default installation of a system, but this strikes me as one of those things that really should be.
