Here’s some recent notes on running Java on DragonFly; I may have posted something similar before, but it doesn’t hurt to keep the information out there.

The OpenJdk BSD ports project claim to have a Java 7 version available for dragonfly: http://wikis.sun.com/display/OpenJDK/BSDPort
Jdk 7 isnt released yet (coming soon, though), but any noticable changes are only expected for the new features. Backwards compatibility is always excellent with java, so I´d rather use that one than the alternatives. 1.6.0_25 is said to have stability issues and jdk1.5 dates back to the time when dragonfly forked off from freeBsd.
Seems like more ans more groups are jumping on to the OpenJdk port project instead of running their own Jdk / patch regime, so I reccomend any d´fly-java-efforts to seek alignment between d´fly and open jdk (one way or the other).
