That´s awesome. 90K of code lines removed, cleanups and the lib still works as expected on OpenBSD ports. OpenSSL was a hell of a bloatware with old/ancient compatibility layers…
if they really mean it, it can not be bad
however, a cleanup is not as good as a complete rewrite / reimplementation, like openbsd did with other things.
i for example like openntpd and also this opensmtpd looks good, and i am thinking about it to replace postfix in future.
