Re GNU sort joke:
Are you asking or is that a quote of someone else asking? If you personally are asking the problem is someone went to port what they thought was a small tool (GNU sort) but found out the job wasn’t small because of all the dependencies that are required to build it. There’s a lot of autoconf hate out there (https://www.varnish-cache.org/docs/2.1/phk/autocrap.html , https://github.com/axboe/fio/blob/fio-2.13/configure ) but its alternatives (cmake, waf, scons etc.) apparently aren’t perfect either.
If you click on the link, you will see the headline is the same as the link text. If I am making commentary, it’s usually after posting the title verbatim. I should probably start enclosing links to ‘ask’ articles in quotes, though.
Ah now I see. In my browser the link appears to go straight to i.imgur.com (and there’s no via) but inspecting the source of the page shows it has attributes like data-outbound-url going to reddit.
Grr, I hate those redirects they work into the URLs. I cleaned up the link and put it in quotes; I’ll have to do that more often.
