The jarring thing about the SSH story, to me, is how Tatu Ylonen begins his letter to IANA with “Dear sir” while *knowing* (he says) that one of the two people likely to see it was Joyce Reynolds (and in fact it was she who replied).
“Dear Sir” is simply a common business greeting in letters, I don’t believe that any disrespect was meant.
Story is a good example of sometimes you get what you ask for.
