The comment about AHCI-based softraid interesting. I would have never thought to try that.
What is the purpose of keeping unsupported things like natacontrol or vinum in the kernel? Is the plan to update them someday, or is it just too much work to remove them?
What is the approximate release time of version 5.8?
I think just nobody has removed them yet.
