I put together a list of what I’m thinking could be in the next DragonFly release. Going by our regular schedule, that’s a bit more than a month off. Of note: Summer of Code material and defaulting to dports. Follow the thread for more.

Does it mean linux.ko will be dropped too if you drop i386 in future
If nobody posts the linuxulator to 64-bit, then it would happen. We need Linux emulation on x86_64 whether or not there’s i386 support, in any case. It’s not an easy update, though.
DragonFly GUI livecd image should have possibility to install packages from repository. Currently it’s impossible because /usr directory is mounted in read-only mode.
IMHO in future versions it would be nice to have UDF 2.50/2.60 support (maybe someone port it from NetBSD?). Actually for example I can’t read contents of Windows 7 DVD. Full virtualization solution (bhyve, VirtualBox) and possibility to limits resources in jails would be nice too.

G.P. – it’s a CD. You can’t install packages from a repository because it’s running on a read-only medium. It’s possible to mount a memory-backed file system, I suppose, but I don’t know how well that would work out, especially if you install a bunch of packages.
This is what I mean. In mfsBSD CD /usr/local is mounted in memory, so you can install packages and it works fine. It would be superb feature for using DragonFly GUI CD for rescue or testing purposes.
