DragonFly 5.0.0 has been released. HAMMER2 is available in the installer. Multi-volume/clustering support isn’t in there yet, but support for deduplication/snapshots/booting and so on all are. My post to users@ has upgrade instructions.

Interesting conversation over at Hacker News

And one user is experiencing a Hammer2 possible bug.
Hi!
Via the normal upgrade process is it possible to “downgrade”? I am running the current master (as of 3 days ago) but would like to run the release instead. So from 5.1 >> 5.0 RELEASE is this possible?
Helmut – I think it should work… I am saying that without testing, though.
Has anyone seen this bug

It’s a missing line in src/share/initrd/src/Makefile to add in the mount_hammer2 command when building the initrd. I’ll follow up on the Hacker News thread.
Justin
In your HN post you commented about 5.0.1 being released. Are you saying this initd issue will also be fixed in that release as well?

“IPFW has gone through a number of updates in DragonFly and now offers better performance. pf and ipfw3 are also still supported.”
So there’s ipfw, ipfw3 and pf in DFly?
I hope to commit a (untested) fix for the initrd today, so it should be in any future 5.x version.
Solarflame – yes. There’s man pages for all three if you want to explore.
Hi Justin,
“Downgrading” from 5.1 to 5.0 RELEASE did work. Thanks!
