Fascinating bit about SSH honeypots. As I suspected, having a solid, uncommon password and disallowing direct root logins over SSH go a long way towards protecting a system. It’s also worth noting that attackers seem to try and target specific brands of router, not just any system. Still, fail2ban is probably a good idea. Preferably with loose settings though.
